Like Old Times — Only Better!

CIMG0820Today when I stood before the group at our Southbrook Monroe campus a flood of emotions washed over me.

I know that sounds like a cheesy line from a romantic novel or something but it’s so true. I was taken back instantaneously to the very early days of Southbrook Church as it rose from the ashes of Grace Community Church…

May she rest in peace.

Only there were about twice as many people at Southbrook Monroe and the energy was much better! I know I won’t get a lot of opportunities to do this, but after today I’m going to figure out a way. This launch team is ready to storm the gates of Hell with Walmart issue squirt guns if need be!

Watch out Monroe!

Some great things I noticed right away—things church plants usually take over a year to get right:

  • A rockin, well organized, fun children’s ministry
  • Warm, informative, friendly greeters and 1st impressions folks everywhere you turned
  • The worship was off the hook!
  • The preaching was phenomenal—oops, I was daydreaming for a second.
  • Coolest thing? A vibe that was everywhere and with everyone that seemed to anticipate God doing great things!
  • The children were having fun, the teens were tracking. Everyone was on vision!
  • We probably had over 150 people all together (not bad for a brand new multisite/outreach mission—launched in the middle of the summer!)!

Yep, it was a great day at Southbrook Monroe.

I heard it was pretty awesome over at Southbrook Central too! And in the Video Cafe!

Now if I could just figure out how to be in 3 places at once.

Here are a couple more pictures for you all to enjoy.

I had the exact same feelings! What a neat group of people already calling Southbrook Monroe home! I loved being there today. God is already moving in mighty ways. Go God!

I have been at the Monroe campus several times since her beginning and I have to say that you are so right about the energy and excitement everyone has EVERY WEEK!! It’s so infectious! The volunteers are 150% committed and more than enthusiastic about reaching into the Monroe community to show Christ’s love and not just talk about it. Even at the end of the day when it’s time to pack EVERYTHING up and put it into a trailer, you don’t here a negative comment or complaint…it’s all smiles and teamwork!! I LOVE being part of this amazing body of believers. I LOVE Southbrook Church and I LOVE being part of the next great adventure that God has in store for us!!

Hi rob, it was great to see you at Monroe today. It was nice to see your family and yourself in the crowd. I think everyone who has been working on the Monroe campus has done a terrific job. There has been some hiccups along the way but nothing us brookies can’t handle. Thank you again for a great service!

We loved it as well! It was our first time visiting but we definitely plan to visit on a regular basis. Everything you pointed out Rob totally stood out to us too. As soon as we left, Emary, one of our 5 year old twins said “I love that church, can we go there every Sunday?”. Needless to say, our entire family was super impressed and thought the environment was so intimate and warm. We are so thankful for Southbrook Central, and now even more blessed to have Southbrook Monroe to share with others. Thank you to all who have been so committed to Monroe!
